石桥村距丹寨县城36公里,距南皋乡政府3公里,全村共有279户,1026口人,辖有石桥、大簸箕、荒寨三个自然寨。1986年石桥村村民杨大文代表中国到加拿大作抄纸现场表演。石桥大岩脚古法造纸遗址于1985被贵州省人民政府公布为省级文物重点保护单位，现正在申报国家级重点文物保护单位。

白皮纸生产最早可追溯到唐代这一时期的造纸工艺，距今已有一千四、五百年的历史。这对研究汉代到唐代造纸技术及其政治、经济文化社会的发展具有十分重要的意义。同时它还是中国书法和绘画艺术品的再现，与书法和绘画艺术相辅相成，是文化传承必不可少的载体。它的生产工艺流程复杂，每道工序的细腻程度和要求都比较高。这些生产技艺是当地苗族人民长期劳动的智慧结晶，且难以为现代技术所替代。是一份极其宝贵的历史遗产。

石桥古法造纸工艺保存之完整、技艺之古老、规模之大，属全国前列。其纸质洁白、柔韧性强、耐拉力，纸面平整、吸水性强，是书画作品最佳纸品。石桥白皮纸广泛应用于军工企业、金融业和人们日常的生产生活中。石桥彩色手工纸更是国内独一无二，目前已研究开发出云龙、凹凸、皱褶、麻丝、花草、压平等6大系列168款彩色手工纸，主要远销法国、澳大利亚、新西兰、香港、东南亚等国家和地区。主要应用于制作明片、灯罩、灯笼、包装纸、壁纸、包装袋、贺卡等。北京大学、人民大学等专家、教授专程到石桥调研过。

目前石桥村每天能出产白皮纸240扎，而市场每天需求量为800扎以上，按每扎18元计，石桥每天应收入为14400元，而实际上每天只收入4320元，由于资金问题，大部分生产户只能持续生产7-9个月，而能坚持全年生产的仅有极少数几户。石桥生产的彩色纸一般销往东南亚、西欧、法国、澳大利亚、香港等国家和地区。

石桥平均每天接待15位客人，但客人一般只是参观古法造纸生产，没有在石桥吃、住，不能产生很大的经济效益。一般只购买一些彩色纸，彩色纸一般可以卖到10元一张，彩色纸每天可收入150元，一年可收入45000元，加上一年15万元的订单，光彩色纸一项可收入20万元。若是扩大石桥的白皮纸生产，光白皮纸生产这一项，每年可增加收入367.9万元，若开展对彩色纸工艺品的研究开发，提高它的附加值，可增加收入近百万元，两项之和可达500万元左右。另外还有开展旅游接待，年接待量为1万人，平均每人按100元计，可达100万元。因此该项目前景广阔，具有较强的可操作性。

In Guizhou, papermaking has been a tradition in local town for hundreds of years. Many papermaking workshops are preserved and continued to make paper in small quantity. Shiqiao Village where people still keep the ancient way of paper making.

Located in a deep valley area, 210km southeast of Guaiyang, the capital city of Guizhou Province, the village is surrounded by lime-stone hills and limpid floating river, which provides the best condition of water resources for paper making. Local people use hemps (Scientific name: Broussonafjapapgrifera) as raw material for the paper making, with the addition of birch leaves, lime and water.
